[Mpi-forum] Reminder: Exceptional Virtual Meeting of the MPI Forum TODAY (Wednesday) at 10am Central

Hi all,

Just as a reminder, we will have the announced exceptional virtual meeting today at 10am US Central Time. The link for the meeting is, as with the usual virtual meetings, on the meeting pages on GitHub.

The only official agenda point for the voting meeting is the vote on the rule changes proposed over the last few weeks. If you intend to participate, please make sure you read Wesley’s email regarding registration from yesterday (also below).

After this official part, we’ll continue with the agenda items for the usual virtual meetings:

Agenda:
- Go over progress made on assigned clean-up tickets
- Schedule other topics for virtual meetings, as needed

Thanks!

Martin

Registration ahead of time is REQUIRED in order to be able to vote. Information on the meeting can be found in the usual place for our voting meetings:

Specifically, because most of us are unable to travel, we will need to hold at least our planned June meeting and possibly future meetings as virtual meetings rather than physical meetings.

>> To that end, I’ve drafted new rules to support this change, and we’ve all been discussing them during the recent virtual meeting time slots. After our meeting earlier today, I think we’ve reached agreement on how these rules should look and they are ready to be put up for a vote. You can find the proposed rule changes on the pull request here:

>> To vote in these new rules, because we don’t have any existing rules to do so, we’ll use the new rules themselves. To that end, we will hold our first Exceptional Virtual MPI Forum Meeting in two weeks, on May 6, 2020. The meeting will happen in our usual virtual meeting time slot (10 AM US Central time). You can find all of the information in the usual place for a voting meeting (used to be called physical):
>>
>> https://www.mpi-forum.org/meetings/ <https://www.mpi-forum.org/meetings/>
>>
>> During that meeting, I will officially read the proposed changes to the procedures. After that, I’ll open up the voting system for everyone who attends. In order to run this meeting as close to our existing rules as possible and enable us to calculate quorum, everyone will need to register (for free) for the meeting before the meeting time at the following link:

>> https://forms.gle/jJxi5ztuoYg6xGSk8 <https://forms.gle/jJxi5ztuoYg6xGSk8>
>>
>> Note that if you do not register, I will not email you the link to vote. Also, this meeting will use the same rules for quorum as any other MPI Forum meeting so it is important that each organization register at least one person. Because we are calling this meeting on relatively short notice, I plan to leave the voting site running for 24 hours to give people who can not attend the ability to vote at a time that is more convenient for them. If you can not attend the call during the usual time slot, please make sure you read the proposal carefully and/or watch the recording of today’s call (posted on the virtual meeting website tomorrow) to hear the unofficial reading.
>>
>> Please let me know if you have any questions.

>> Thanks,
