Hi all,

I just wanted to quickly second Wes – thanks for this highly productive RCM meeting and for so many of you for pitching in (in presence and online). The fact that we now already have all the fixes from reviews in the system as full PRs is great and much further along than we were after the previous RCMs.

Also, as Wes said, please raise any urgent issue (mainly focusing of real mistakes and errors) as soon as possible and we will try to resolve them in an equally efficient manner.

As an additional note, as we now start to transition again from finishing up a standard release to looking forward to new features, discussion time and working group activities will become more dominantly, at least for the near- to mid-future. If any working group would like to use our traditional Wednesday slot to bring some ideas or discussions to the whole forum, please let Wes and me know, and we can certainly schedule this.

Thanks!

Martin

Hi all,

Thanks for the awesome work this week at the Release Candidate Meeting! We got a huge amount done and have put ourselves in a great position to finish up MPI 5.0 at the next meeting in June. We created and fixed 61 issues this week! Here's how the rest of the time for MPI 5.0 will go:

Issues created and PRs read up to now: Already listed on the website and will be voted on at the next meeting as a first-and-only vote (single, regular 3/4ths vote).
New issues created between now and April 21: Require an issue and a pull request. Will be read and voted on the next meeting with no-no vote rules.
April 21 - May 5: Bill will publish a new release candidate document with all of the changes to be voted on in June already merged so everyone can see a clean version.
June 2 - 5: Read any no-no items and vote on everything that's gone into the document since the end of the January meeting.
June 2 - 5: Have votes to finish MPI 5.0 (more instructions at meeting).

TL;DR - We'd really rather not make any more changes to the MPI 5.0 document, but if you have something breaking and urgent, please raise it along with a fix quickly to Martin, Bill, and myself.

Last thing, officer nominations for the next cycle of the MPI Standard are now open. If you'd like to nominate yourself or someone else for any of the officer positions below, please send an email to this mailing list:

MPI Forum Chair - Incumbent: Martin Schulz
MPI Forum Secretary - Incumbent: Wes Bland
MPI Forum Treasurer - Incumbent: Brian Smith
MPI Standard Document Editor - Incumbent: Bill Gropp

As discussed in the previous meeting, if you're potentially interested in picking up one of these roles in the future (now or after the next MPI Standard release), this would be a great time to reach out to the person listed above to say you might be interested so you could have a discussion of the requirements of the role.

Thanks again for the awesome work everyone! See you in June!

Thanks,

Wes
