the tools group wants to read two tickets at the next meeting:

Please check each individual commit, as these address different 
problems with the existing list of types for MPI_(MIN|MAX)LOC.

I would also like to get some plenary time for discussing "extensions 
or replacements" to #520 and explore a solution for #519, but  we 
don't have PRs ready for a reading and still need preparations for those.
