Hi all,
During last week’s meeting in Charlotte, NC, we narrowed down our options for meeting in-person next March to the Meta office above Penn Station in New York City (hosted by me) and the Texas Advanced Computing Center in northwest Austin, TX (hosted by Amit Ruhela, thanks Amit!).
The Meta office (called the “Meta Farley” office) is located in the old post office above New York Penn Station (https://urldefense.us/v3/__https://maps.app.goo.gl/h7VVReNE5nBiz6jw8__;!!G_uCfscf7eWS!fhEJOoelYl3_noOvX-d-5PTYBJ-5AKhsEH9VgqD1lZxmDSUFbACat8UzossnqufHZMb8nSE-cVGZzAuKhq2O1zMN$ ). There are hotels nearby (most are named something to do with Times Square, which is about 12 blocks away). Newark Airport is the easiest to get in and out of with a direct train to Penn Station. Other NYC area airports also have public transit options that are a bit more complex.
The Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) office is located in North Austin near a shopping and hotel area called “The Domain”. Many hotels nearby have shuttles so it may be possible to get a taxi/ride share to the hotel and use hotel shuttles after that. Rental cars are also easy to get at the Austin airport and parking around TACC should be very easy.
Please vote for your preference of where we meet before the end of the day on October 17 so we can start putting together local logistics. Our primary goal here is to gather preferences from those who would attend in-person both to choose a location and get a ballpark guess on numbers for meeting space and catering. If you plan to attend remotely, there is a place to indicate that as well. We won’t hold you to anything at this point. You’re welcome to change your mind later.

Thanks,
