Hi Rich,

I booked online via
http://www.marriott.com/hotels/hotel-information/travel/sjcml-residence-inn-milpitas-silicon-valley/
and the group code required 7 letters: I tested
MPIMPIA 
and it worked properly and returned that the "rate rules" 
are "MPI Forum".
